What Can Bagasse Be Used To Do?

The resources of fiber raw materials are the basis for the survival and development of the paper industry. Sugarcane is one of the main raw materials of sugar. After extraction, about 50% of the fiber from the sugar bagasse can be used for making paper. However, some of the sugarcane pulp (myeloid cells) should be removed before making paper pulp because of lacking interweaving force. For bagasse, depicting is most essential. Soluble and other contaminants should also be removed. The bagasse fibers are approximately 0.65-2.17mm long and have a width of 21-28 μm. Although its fiber form is not as good as wood and bamboo, it is slightly better than rice and wheatgrass fiber. The slurry can be combined with some wood pulp for making all kinds of paper.

In fact, bagasse, the dregs of sugar cane after being made into sugar. It is thick and hard, accounting for about 24%~27% of sugarcane (containing about 50% of water). Each ton of sucrose is accompanied by 2~3 tons of sucrose. The approximate analysis of wet bagasse shows that bagasse is rich in cellulose and less in lignin, so bagasse has great advantages as fiber raw material.

At present, there is advanced technology using bagasse as an alternative raw material of wood to produce paper cups, fully degraded paper agricultural land film, and paper catering utensils. Among them, the second is made from 100% bagasse pulp. It can not only be recycled for paper making but also can degrade naturally again, which is helpful to solve the problem of white pollution caused by the use of polystyrene dilute tableware over the years. That’s why it is considered as the most promising new outcome.

Catering made from bagasse shares the advantages of high whiteness, tightness, good temperature resistance, and oil resistanceperformance. In addition to these mentioned above, it is also non-toxic and tasteless. Products made from bagasse can be fully degradable within three months and won’t cause waste pollution during the process of making. Besides, the cost of making fast food boxes from bagasse is much lower than it is from paper pulp. In Mashan County, Guangxi province, Shuangfei green tableware factory, the green tableware has already been made.
