What is recycled paper?

Paper is found everywhere in our daily life. From the wallpaper used for the interior decoration to the newspaper and napkins, it can be said that paper has brought great convenience to us. It is precisely because of the great demand for the paper today that an increasing number of trees are cut down as raw material. In order to save resources, people are looking for ways to use paper more efficiently. Recycled paper is a good way to deal with waste paper. Regenerative paper, as its name suggests, is made into products again after being sorted, soaked in warm water, and re-beaten into pulp. There are three main sources of waste paper--waste generated during the process of making paper, then when the paper is used to pack goods, waste is also created, and after the products are used, most packages are thrown away.

The first kind of waste caused during the process of making paper, such as sawdust which forms in the early period. The second kind of paper waste creates when the paper is printed and binding as well as the paper that is kept in the store. The last one means the paper or paper products transferred from landfills like newspapers, magazines books, and boxes. All these three sorts of waste can be recycled and become useful resources again.

Recycled paper is of great significance in protecting the environment. According to a survey, waste paper accounts for 60% to 100% of the raw material used to produce recycled paper, which means we protect over 10 trees per ton of recycled paper.

But of course, there are several drawbacks to the production of recycled paper. One of them is increasing the cost for enterprises. Unlike wood pulp and grass fiber pulp, recycled paper has special requirements for machines and technologies such as deinking. As a result, the price of recycled paper increases. Another disadvantage is the quality of the recycled paper itself, such as spots on its appearance, low brightness, dark color, etc., which is not good enough to be used as high-quality paper.
